Hi-Fi Audio or "High Fidelity Audio" is the reproduction of program material in a listening area with the maximum realism possible". 

The goal of a Hi-Fi system is to envelope your Auditory system with sound of such high quality that your brain could be fooled into thinking you are attending the original performance. 

Another definition of HiFi is "true to original" and Hi-Fi experts are able to listen to a well mastered recording on a high end system and tell you which concert hall it was recorded in & what colour shirt the conductor was wearing.

For many of us, Hi-Fi is the experience of sitting back and relaxing in a favourite chair and listening to music that is clear and emotive with plenty of dynamic range (whispers can be easily heard as well as the loudest cannon blasts from the 1812). 

Good sound does not have to mean loud sound nor does it have to mean expensive systems.

Hi-Fi has experiencing a marked comeback over the past 4 years with more people rediscovering the joy of relaxing to well reproduced music.
